If you have just purchased a puppy and are planning to move into an apartment, then you could have some interesting times ahead of you – there are pet friendly apartments out there, but you will need to train your dog before you move in.
What Are Pet Friendly Apartments?
The first thing you need to do before you move to a pet friendly apartment is train your dog to go to the bathroom outside. Now, if you are a person that either works from home, or is home most of the time, this process will be easier than if you are away working for long periods of time.
The most important thing to do is contain your animal in a particular area of your current living place – usually this is the kitchen as the tiled floor makes it easy to clean. Give your pet a treat each time it uses the bathroom outside, until the pet begins to associate the treat and the behavior, making it more prepared for the pet friendly apartment.
The next thing you need to train your puppy not to do is chew on various furnishings. Since puppies are teething, the will most likely chew whatever they can get their mouths on. When left alone without someone to tell them not to, they can easily destroy things.
You need to make sure this does not happen when you move – some people do this by spraying the puppy with water when it chews something other than its toys. Eventually, your pet should stop chewing things that it shouldn’t.
Of course, there is also the issue of shedding. Now, while this is something that pet friendly apartments do not address, it is something that you should address, so that you can have a clean apartment. If your puppy is the kind that has short hair, you will have less of a problem in this area, but it will shed all the same. Thus, it is important that you have your puppy groomed, and you brush it on a regular basis.
Many pet friendly apartments will charge you a one time fee of a couple of hundred dollars – others have a payment plan where you pay a small amount extra each month for the privilege of having a pet. Either way, it is important to make sure that your dog behaves well and does not cause damage to the apartment.
You should be able to find a listing of pet friendly apartments online, or one in your local newspaper. You could also ask around the housing associations in the area to see if any of them offer pet friendly accommodation.

Help answer the question about pets for apartment living
What are some fun to own, yet unique pets that are suitable for apartment living (must be kept in a cage)??Me and 3 guys are getting an apartment next year for our junior year in college and we really want to get a cool pet that is interesting yet semi-easy to take care of. The pet must be kept in a cage (not 24/7 obviously but at least for when we are not there for classes, sleeping, etc.). Any suggestions??

you might need to find someone to take over your lease. like they just live there till your done. sometimes you can talk to the office and make up some excuse. maybe say…. like someone you know is deathly ill and you'd want to move closer to be more convenient and to help them. … but most places let someone take over your lease… or ask if there is anyone on the waiting list who can fill your apartment. the biggest thing about leases is when your's is up and you move they hate finding a new person to live there. but just try to talk to them and ask if there is anyways someone can take over your lease…. and if they ask why make it sound serious or something.
He said poop. Dog poop stinks. Litterally.
wth? that was the most raandom video I’ve ever seen
Check your state laws. Most states have a law just for this reason. Also, I'm pretty sure that if it's a pet for medical reasons they can't legally say you can't have one. Because it could possibly be putting your health at risk. What state do you live in?
EDIT: Here's a good site for you to check out
Gives quite a bit of information that should be helpful to you
http://www.bazelon.org/issues/housing/infosheets/fhinfosheet6.html
EDIT AGAIN: Here's another great site for you to read it also states they have to let you have the animal and they cannot legally require another deposit for it as well:
http://www.metrokc.gov/dias/ocre/animals.htm
EDIT: I found another website that might help you as well, it states "Except for support animals for disabled individuals, properties are not required to accept pets or other animals." Thereby implying that they cannot refuse your right to have a service animal. Here's the original context( you can find it under "what if I have roommates or pets" under the pet section it's the second one on there)

I found one on Craig's List (www.craigslist.com) that is pretty close to your specs.
http://www.craigslist.org/eby/apa/170091186.html
It's $1250 but that's a lot less than everything else I found there.
If that doesn't work for you, keep checking Craig's List searching on Fremont pets 2 bed (that's what I used).
