San Francisco Studio Apartments

San Francisco is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. You can enjoy fine dining downtown – especially Chinese, Italian and almost any other ethnic food you are looking for. The view looking out over the bay when the fog rolls in and you can still barely see the Golden Gate Bridge is breathtaking. It’s no wonder that so many people want to live and work in the greater San Francisco area.

If you are young and starting your career, the chances are you will probably only be able to afford a studio apartment. The rents in downtown SF are very high. To get started in a studio you are probably looking to pay over a thousand dollars a month just for a basic layout.

The Lakewood Apartments at Lake Merced have studios that are over 500 square feet and cost over $1,400 a month. The apartments sit in a serene wooded setting near the Olympic Club Golf Course and just a few miles from downtown SF. You can take the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and get to San Francisco State University, highway 101 and may other freeways within minutes. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants near by – it’s a perfect locale for living.

There are plenty of easy ways to find housing online. One of the simplest ways is to go to an apartment finding site and search using the parameters you are looking for. For example if you want a 1 bedroom apartment for no more than $1,000/month in San Francisco, you can put that information in and start looking – it’s really very simple!

Help answer the question about studio apartment living

Will living in a studio apartment be lonely and scary?
I'm a junior in college and I would like to move out in the spring into a studio apartment. But I get scared a lot when I'm alone in the dark, and I just wonder are studio apartments really scary or is it just all in my head? Anyone here live in one? How is it?

Good luck. Try looking at http://www.craigslist.org

Be willing to settle for something less than ideal, like a shared bedroom in a bad neighborhood. SF is one of the most expensive places to live in the country.

The Sunset & the Richmond (which are virtually the same, just on opposite sides of GG park) are really nice and close to good stuff. Especially the Richmond as you're close to the park, and Geary which has TONS of great food, shopping, movie theater & bars

10 x 25, about the same as a parking space. Open the front door and jump into bed !

That looks amazin. im trying to get a studio here in Sydney but there really pricey and tiny, how much do you per week there in the states?

  11. AntonioAzz on October 8th, 2008 4:31 pm

That is a GREAT deal, in Sydney a $240 studio gets you an old run down studio with a shitty 1940’s kitchen and old floorboards. One like yours here would be round $300, and that would be in a hald decent area

It's almost impossible, SF is one of the most expensive cities in the nation. In 1989 I lived in a dumpy 1 room apartment in a sketchy part of the city and paid $675. That same dumpy apartment now 20 years older and the area even worse, rents for $950. The point being, check Oakland for a better value and ride into the city on BART rail or AC Transit Transbay buses. Good Luck!

Her best bet to find rentals will be craig's list. She can limit her search by neighborhood and amount.

I have lived in downtown San Francisco for 2 years. I paid around $825 a month which I shared. A studio can run anywhere from $600 to $900+. Just stay out of the Tenderloin area, not safe. Good luck! Great city!
