Curtains always transform a room. I made my small box-like house go from basic, to looking like i've been living there for years just by putting up nice curtains.
Make sure you don't spend more than you make. Stay away from credit cards unless an emergency….ONLY. They are bad. I learned the hard way. Live simply because as you get older and get better jobs with better pay you'll be able to someday afford things you want. Don't get greedy and get stuff you really don't need. Learn to budget. if you don't know how, ask your mom or dad or find programs on the Internet that teach you how to budget your money. Don't ever give bank info or social security number to anyone over the phone. There are so many scams. Keep in touch with your family. They will miss you and they love you. Never forget what your parents have done for you. Best of luck !!!!
If you haven't already, try apartments.com and rent.com
Also check out craigslist.org and local newspapers.
You can also search for apartments with income requirements.
Hope this helps, happy apartment hunting!
I live in an aprtment with my Dane. We have a very large area for the dogs by a lake and have had no problems at all.
I just feel that some persons look down upon those of us that live in apartments as perhaps not being quite good enough.
Just my opinion.
Do you have a friend who can come over (who doesn't have ADD) and help you unpack all those boxes, decorate, and get organized? Unpacking boxes and organizing things is a boring, time consuming thing…I personally hate it so I have a friend help. It makes time go by faster, makes the job easier, and I get some great input as to how to decorate. Plus it gives me somebody to talk to. Don't forget to reward yourselves after with something fun.
I don't have ADD, but hope this helps anyway.
Good luck!
Have things already ready for her. If she is spending a few days (sleeping there) then have a sleeping area already arranged. Have some food and beverage choices just in case she gets hungry or thirsty.
Most importantly, invite her to casual conversations, and activity. Be yourself. There is nothing more awkward and uncomfortable than a host who is stressed and quiet.
As a visitor to my girlfriend's family, i find that the most comfortable situations is to be treated like a welcomed member of their family.
My hubby and I do lots of container gardening…..even vegetables. Here is our method (USA):
Plastic pots 14 inches across the top.
Holds 25 pounds potting soil-we use Miracle-Gro Potting Soil with Plant Food for flowers (not vegetables-ask the clerk at the nursery for vegetable potting soil).
Mix water crystals into the top six inches of potting soil-these hold water so you do not have to water more than once per week when the temperatures hit 100 degrees.
Water well and leave it alone for a few days so the crystals can absorb the water. Do not plant or the swelling crystals will push your flowers up and out of the potting soil.
After a few days, mix 4 tablespoons Osmocote flower fertilizer into the top four inches of potting soil. Water in well and wait a day or so. There is also a vegetable Osmocote fertilizer. (Read and follow the directions on the container just in case your container is different from ours.)
Now you can plant. Water well.
Every 14 days fertilize with liquid fertilizer – we use Miracle-Gro Bloom Booster.
Check for a vegetable liquid fertilizer.
Stop fertilizing one month before your first autumn frost. But keep watering.
Let your flowers go to sleep after the first frost or take them indoors and place in a south facing window (sunny window).
Lightly water through the winter months, but do not fertilize.
Do not put back outside until all frost has past. We usually wait till the nights have reached 68 or 70 degrees.
Add the Osmocote fertilizer again each spring (or other good flowering fertilizer).
When flowers start failing, change the potting soil's top 1/3 or 1/2, mix in well, add new water crystals, add fertilizer. Buy new plants. This is usually done every third spring.
Hint: Always water till it runs out the bottom. Wait a few minutes and then water again. This only need to be done about once per week to ten days when using the water crystals.
Happy gardening to you.
Light colors like white make the walls recede and make the space seem larger. Hang up mirrors to achieve the same effect. You could put in brighter colored accents like pillows, furniture, upholstery to liven the space. Use furniture which has multi-purposes, ottomans, sofa beds that also provide storage. You could also use a daybed that could function as a bed.
